Happy Anniversary!

Mike and I celebrated our three year anniversary on Saturday. I can't believe that three years have already come and gone! I am so grateful that I married my best friend...I seriously have the best husband! I love you, Mike! :)

Fun in the Sun!

Mike and I just came home from a fabulous cruise vacation to Mexico. We had such a FUN time and we both definitely needed the vacation. We left San Diego last Monday, stopped in Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, and returned home on Saturday.

This picture shows Mike and I leaving the port in San Diego. We decided to stay on top of the deck to watch the boat pull away. I wanted to so that I could get some pictures...Mike wanted to so that he could watch them release the boat and see all of the naval boats.

Our second day was a "Fun Day at Sea". Most of the day was spent laying out on the deck, soaking up the sun. It was so nice to not have to worry about being anywhere or doing anything. Tuesday was also the "elegant" night on the cruise. We should have taken a better picture of us all dressed up, but oh well.
Wednesday was spent in Cabo San Lucas. We went on a tour that took us on a sailboat to a snorkeling site about an hour away from the ship. Neither of us had been on a sailboat before, so we had a lot of fun. On the ride back to the marina, the crew brought out the open bar. It was incredibly entertaining to watch our fellow passengers get super drunk. They were doing tequila shots, old ladies were dancing...it was hilarious.

Thursday was another day at sea. That morning, Mike and I decided to go to a meeting that told us the details for getting off the ship. We got there a little early, just as they were getting ready to play a game of Bingo. We weren't planning on playing, but then we saw one of the couples that we ate dinner with, and they convinced us to buy a card. That Bingo card turned out to be a GREAT investment...we won the Bingo Jackpot of $1199!!! Apparently, this is the most money that you can win without having to pay taxes on it. We couldn't believe our luck!

We docked in Ensenada on Friday. We decided to take a tour to see La Blufadora, which is a natural blowhole on the coast south of the city. These pictures show the progression of what happens when the blowhole blows:

We also walked by some small shops near the blowhole and I got a delicious shrimp taco from a small restaurant. It was delicious - the shrimp was so fresh!

This trip was seriously so much fun! It was a great way to get some much needed rest and relaxation and a fun way to celebrate our three year anniversary. Hopefully we can plan another trip again soon!

So Long, Vandy

I can't believe two years have already come and gone and that I am done with school! I finished my last semester last week, but it seems like just yesterday that I was starting the program. I don't think that it has really sunk in yet that I am done - no more reading, no more online chats, no more homework...what am I going to do with myself? Even though I am graduating summer 2009, I won't be able to participate in commencement ceremonies until next May. Mike and I are planning on taking a trip to Nashville so that I can "walk" during graduation. Going back to school has definitely been worth it - it took a lot of hard work, but I have learned so much.

Thanks to my sweet husband for being such a great support and putting up with a wife who has been glued to the computer and for not complaining (too much) about paying my tuition! :)

New Appreciation...

This past weekend, Mike and I had a small taste of what it would be like to have three "children". My family went out of town, and we watched Mookie and Abbie for a few of the nights that they are gone. Not that I am meaning to compare dogs to children, but taking care of them was a lot of work! Mookie, Abbie, and Faline each have their own distinct personality and needs that had to be met. There were definitely times when I felt like I had to play referee between two "children" and then comfort the one who didn't get her way. This weekend gave me a whole new appreciation for stay at home moms...I don't know how you do it everyday! Mike and I decided that the dogs will have us well trained for parenthood when that time comes around.
