Go Jazz!

Lucky for Mike, he married someone that really enjoys watching Jazz basketball games - so much so that I hate to miss seeing them on TV and was SUPER excited when he gave me tickets for Christmas! The long-awaited game finally arrived last night, and we had a great time. The Jazz were playing the Timberwolves; a team that they should beat, but have lost 2/3 of the games they had played against them this season. There were a few tense moments, but fortunately for us, the Jazz did not disappoint with a fabulous win.

Thanks for the fun night, babe...can't wait for our next game!

Calling All Hockey Fans!

The Utah Grizzlies are hosting a fundraising night to benefit the charitable foundation at my work, South Davis Community Hospital. The game is Saturday, March 27th at 7:00pm and the Grizzlies are hosting the Bakersfield Condors.

COST:

Center Seats $18 (normally $24) or Corner Plaza Seats $12 (normally $16). $4 from each ticket will be donated to the SDCH charitable foundation.

Funds raised from this event will help fund new cribs and specialty strollers for pediatrics; specialty beds and wheelchairs for patients of all ages; educational toys, computers and books for the pediatrics unit; and training equipment to instruct nursing students and to teach family members how to help care for their loved ones.

Spring Fever

As you can probably tell from our lack of posting, winter isn't a very exciting time at our house. Neither of us are big into winter sports and activities, and I am just not a fan of winter in general. The other day, Mike and I were talking about how we are glad it has started to get a little bit warmer. We both have spring fever and can't wait to get back outside.

New Calling

I was released from my calling as a primary teacher last week. I was first called to teach just over two years ago, and I began teaching the Valiant 11/12 year olds, but I have also taught the CTR 4/5 class as well. I really enjoyed teaching the kids. They all have such sweet spirits and are so eager to learn. However, I am not leaving primary behind...

I am the new primary pianist in my ward. Today was my second week in this calling, and I am already starting to enjoy it. It has been nice to have a reason to practice the piano more. Playing is something that I really enjoy, but it tends to get neglected when there is not an urgent reason to play. It has been fun to be a little more behind the scenes and see the progress the kids make week to week. Although I will miss my class, I am excited and grateful for this new challenge I have been blessed with.

Merry Christmas!

I can't believe that Christmas has come and gone already! It seemed like Thanksgiving was just last week!

Anyway, Mike and I had a lot of fun celebrating the season with our families and friends. We made many memories and had a great time with everyone!

Last Sunday, we went with nearly all of Mike's extended family to see the lights at Temple Square. It was FREEZING cold, but it was fun to see everyone and have such a big group there.

We joked that Mike looked like a ninja with his all of his snow gear on.

We spent the night at my parent's house on Christmas Eve. Every year my family drives around to look at the Christmas lights and then comes home to read a children's book that focuses on the true meaning of Christmas. It is one of my favorite family traditions, so I was glad that we were able to participate this year.

Although my sister, Kristin, got up around 4:30, the rest of us got up around 8:00 to open presents.

After leaving my parents house on Christmas morning, we went to Mike's mom's house for a few hours before heading over to see his dad's side of the family. We had such a great time visiting with everyone and enjoying each other's company.

Where has November Gone???

I can't believe that it will be December in just a few short weeks. If you were to ask me what Mike and I have been up to, my first response would probably be to say "nothing new", even though we definitely seem to be keeping busy. Looking back, here are a few highlights and other activities that have kept us busy lately:

On November 7, Denece and John (Mike's mom and her husband) were sealed in the temple. It was a neat time to have the family together and feel the spirit of the temple. I always enjoy going to sealings and listening to the counsel that is given to the couple.

Last Sunday, Mike's brother (Trevor) gave his missionary farewell. He left yesterday to enter the MTC in preparation for his mission in Paraguay. We are so excited for Trevor and SO proud of his decision to serve a mission! We are going to miss him, but we know that he will be a GREAT missionary. I just don't know what Mike will do without his riding buddy now...

Besides the family stuff, the only other thing that has really been going on is that Mike is getting ready to play drums in a Christmas show on December 3 at Thanksgiving Point. He is playing for Chelsey Stallings again. If you don't have any plans on December 3, you should come check them out!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Mike and I had a great time celebrating Halloween with our friends. The festivities started on Friday, with each of our jobs having costume contests. My work always gets into Halloween with games, decorations, contests, and a big "Boo-BQ" lunch for employees. This year, the nursing management team decided that we would dress as the Flintstones...unfortunately, everyone but me and one other girl backed out.

On Saturday, Mike and I got dressed up to go to a Halloween party at the Sanderson's house. We dressed as Jack and Sally Skelington. My costume wasn't the best, but Mike's DEFINITELY made up for it! Unfortunately, I didn't take very many pictures, and I didn't get any of anybody else's costumes.

We had such a fun time with everyone! After a dinner at Red Robin's, we headed back to Ashley and Taylor's house for some delicious food, spooky decorations, and fun games. Thanks for the fun memories!
